What you do with the first hour, you do with the year

Aarav SharmaCertified Life & Leadership Coach
A quiet room with a bare table and light falling through sheer curtains

I am not going to tell you to wake at five. I am going to ask who currently gets the first hour of your attention, and whether you chose them.

For most people the answer is a device, and through it, several hundred strangers with agendas. You then spend the rest of the day slightly reactive and assume that is your temperament.

The only rule worth keeping

One hour of input you chose, before any input you did not. It can be silence, a walk, a page of writing, or nothing at all. The content matters far less than the order.

Whoever gets your attention first sets the terms of the negotiation for the rest of the day.

Try it for two weeks. Not because it is virtuous, but because the difference is large and immediate enough that you will not need me to convince you.
